Terms of Use
These Terms govern your use of Pearl ("Pearl," "we," "us"). By using Pearl you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Pearl.
What Pearl is — and is not
Pearl is a consumer health-support application that helps you organize your health history, summarize information you provide, prepare questions for appointments, and understand general health concepts. Pearl is not a doctor, clinician, diagnostic system, treatment system, emergency service, or medical device. Pearl does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified clinician for medical decisions. If you may be experiencing an emergency, call your local emergency number.
Your data and consent
- Your health information is stored in your device's encrypted local storage. Pearl does not store your health conversations in cloud storage.
- Pearl collects only what a feature needs, and only acts on outbound data flows you have consented to.
- You may access, export, delete your data, and revoke any consent at any time from Privacy Settings.
- Pearl does not sell your data or share it with advertisers.
Connecting health records (Epic / MyChart)
- Connecting Epic / MyChart is optional and starts only when you initiate it and sign in directly with Epic.
- Pearl's access to Epic is read-only. Pearl never writes to your chart and does not message, schedule, refill, or bill.
- Epic access tokens are stored encrypted server-side and are never exposed to the browser.
- You can disconnect and revoke access at any time from Settings, and revoke Pearl from within MyChart.
- Available data varies by Epic organization, and Pearl makes no guarantee about completeness or accuracy of records retrieved from third-party systems.
Acceptable use
Use Pearl only for your own personal health organization. Do not use Pearl to access records you are not authorized to access, or in any unlawful manner.
No warranty; limitation of liability
Pearl is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pearl is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Pearl makes reasonable efforts to apply HIPAA-grade safeguards but does not claim HIPAA compliance and cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes
We may update these Terms; material changes will be reflected here with an updated date.
